NW derby: Foncha Street defeats Rangers FC to lead league

Foncha Street FC have defeated sister-club, Rangers FC Bafut in the North West Elite 2 derby.

The match which ended 2-1 in favor of Foncha Street gave them 3 points to go on top of Aigle of Moungo, thus leading the unofficial classification table with 18 points.

The first clash between both teams in the North West region took place on Wednesday, January 18 at the Bambili university field.

Rangers FC opened the scores in the 3rd minute with a goal from Boris Kache, but couldn’t maintain the lead.

Foncha Street came during the second half with two substitutions, Jonas Mbaha took the position of Didymos Tagnteh, while Lionel Abonifor made way for Collins Ngwa.

In the 55th minute of play, Cheson Loibinho scored the equalizer with his head from a through-in by Gilbert Hermann.

Rangers FC came in with one substitution, as Alain Ndogaah made way for Oliver Korn Gong who came in and strike several times but couldn’t change the results.

Bakado Mbathe’s strike at the 90+2 minute made Foncha Street double the score and end the day.

To maintain their lead on the table, Foncha Street will need another victory on Saturday as they travel to play in Yaounde.
