Atanga Nji says Pilgrimage not for poor, Biya disburses 1 billion
Infuriated by the high cost, some muslims have threatened to boycott the 2022 pilgrimage to Mecca. While other countries like Tchad, Congo , Cote D’ivoire and other central African states, ate charging less than FCFA 3 million, Cameroon has said each pligim shall pay the sum of 3 294 000.
Territorial Administration Minister quoted the Quran saying that pilgrimage is not for the poor.
But President Paul Biya on Tuesday May 32, 2022 ordered the Minister of Finance to put at the disposal of the Minister of Territorial Administration, President of the National Pilgrimage Commission the sum of One Billion (1.000.000.000 CFAF) for financing of the 2022 pilgrimage.
