Archbishop Andrew Nkea decorated with state honours

The Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Fuanya Nkea, was raised to the rank of Commander of the National Order of Valor on November 15 in Yaounde.
Lejeune Mbelle Mbella, Foreign Affairs Minister, carried out the solemn ritual on behalf of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. It took place during celebrations marking the tenth anniversary of signing the framework agreement (accord-cadre) between Cameroon and the Holy See.
The personal representative of Pope Francis, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher officiated the holy mass on November 16 at the St. Mary Queen of Apostles Minor Basicila, Mvolye, Yaounde. Concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon, Jose Avelino Bettencourt, and the College of Cameroon Bishops.
In attendance were a cross-section of government ministers, members of the diplomatic core, administrative authorities, traditional rulers, and Christians. Archbishop Nkea who is the President of the National Episcopal Conference, thanked God for his faithfulness in over half a century of the Vatican’s diplomatic ties with Yaounde.
The visiting Roman Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations came to Cameroon for the tenth anniversary of the framework agreement. To renew cooperation between both states. He alongside the Bamenda Local Ordinary was awarded a medal.
