AFCON2023: Klopp wishes Salah luck while hoping for early exit

Liverpool’s Coach Jurgen Klopp was candid about his feelings towards Mohamed Salah leaving the club to represent Egypt at the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
“If I wish you good luck, it will be a lie,” Klopp said when asked about his opinion on the matter before Liverpool’s FA Cup game against Arsenal.
He went on to reveal that, while he would be pleased if Egypt exited the tournament early, he knows that it’s unlikely and ultimately still wishes them well. “From my point of view, I will be happy if they go out at the group stage but it’s probably not possible, so good luck”
Despite Salah’s departure, it’s impossible to overlook his immense impact on Liverpool this season as he is one of the few players in Premier League history to score 150+ goals for a single club.
His talent and dedication are undeniable because He has been Liverpool’s most productive goal scorer this season, accounting for over 30% of the team’s goals to date.
As captain of Egypt’s national team, all eyes will be on Salah as he leads the team in pursuit of their eighth AFCON victory, having won their seventh title in 2010 and reached the finals in the 2021 edition.
The Pharaohs of Egypt will begin their campaign with a match against the Mambas of Mozambique on Sunday, January 14th, sharing Group B with the Black Stars of Ghana and the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
