By Nchendzengang Tatah
In a twist of events, Ndim Jacob Ngong, 35, made public threats to his life at an April 12 presser dedicated to announcing his desire to beat 92-year-old Paul Biya in upcoming polls.
Ndim Jacob traced the events of the last four months that had put his life on edge. He reported that threats hung over him as he had taken ground moves to tour and make contact with those who have the potential to make for his candidacy, as an independent candidate in line with the laws enforced.
“You will recall that the first press conference programmed for December 2024 was called off that morning. The one in March ended up being an off-camera talk. This was as advised by security intelligence, such that we can only reach out to the public at an appropriate time with measures in place against the impending risk,” Ndim established.
The politician, however, failed to make mention as to who he felt specifically was behind the alleged scheme. He did say that the beauty of his plans was the cause of the setbacks. To which he made intentions known not to relent.
Rescuing Cameroon
Ndim Jacob drives his vision as “Rescue 2025”. It is a six-point strategy to revamp Cameroon’s economy and save it from vices crippling it. Firstly, he hopes to restore Cameroon’s “lost glory”. This is through youth development and sports. Furthermore, to build an egalitarian society where everyone is valued and opportunities. This, he believes, will “restore” the pride and dignity of the nation. Additionally, he intends to build the educational system on merit and professionalism. Through this, he believes development will be boosted and livelihoods transformed.
If elected, Ndim proposed to uproot corruption together with other vices like nepotism and favouritism. Moreover, he has ambitions to foster unity and national integration. Which will give Cameroonians a feeling of belonging to the statecraft. Conclusively, he pointed out agriculture as a key asset of his projections. By boosting agriculture, mineral exploitation, and energy supply, Ndim thinks the economy will be more productive, buoyant, and competitive.
As regards the conflict in the Far North, North West, and South West regions, aspirant Ndim Jacob holds that, following a rescue of the state and its institutions, dialogue shall be a platform to resolve these conflicts.
Ndim Jacob Ngong was born to Cameroonian parents on January 9, 1990. He hails from Njinikom subdivision, Boyo Division, North West region. He carries out farming and teaching as an occupation. Is married and the father of three.
