Enow Abrams Egbe, president of the Electoral Board at ELECAM, has addressed concerns raised by Maurice Kamto, president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), regarding irregularities and shortcomings in the revision of the electoral list.

In a release to that effect on Thursday February 20, 2025, Egbe assured that ELECAM will take the concerns into account and emphasized that the management of electoral lists is in due respect of the electoral code.

ELECAM also highlights that voters can consult registration registers and verify their presence on electoral lists. The institution also stressed the importance of adapting to new technologies to improve the electoral process and prevent fraud. Additionally, ELECAM confirmed that its official website, which was recently hacked, is being updated and secured to facilitate online consultation of secure voter data.

“the process of updating and securing the official website of Elections Cameroon, recently hacked and damaged, is about to be completed and will allow, as all the actors wishing, for an easier online consultation of secure data relating to each voter.” Reads the release.

Egbe’s response comes as Cameroon prepares for crucial elections in 2025. While this response marks a new step in the debate on electoral transparency, it remains to be seen whether it will reassure the opposition and voters.
