UB affirms certifying ICT University graduates, release states
The Vice Chancellor, VC, of the University of Buea, UB Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, has affirmed that the renowned institution is certifying the certificates of graduates from the ICT University in Yaounde.
The outing is the content of a release Prof. Ngomo issued on Tuesday February 4, a copy of which CNA has seen. He stated that the certification process of graduates of ICT University is on course.
The Vice Chancellor explained that as mentor university, following a Framework and Specific agreement signed with ICT University, the University of Buea provides oversight, quality assurance, and institutional guidance to ensure that ICT University.
Within the brackets of the mentorship, he said UB ensures ICT University upholds high standards in teaching, research, and student training, that meets national and international higher education standards.
According to Professor Ngomo, the mentorship reflects the University of Buea’s commitment to excellence in higher education and its role in strengthening academic institutions in Cameroon.
“The ICT University and the University of Buea are working closely to ensure a smooth and transparent implementation of the terms of the specific agreement, which includes the joint certification of the students,” he stated.
The Vice Chancellor urged all students to remain calm and patient as the certification process of those whose complete files have just been submitted is finalized.
He encouraged students to contact the administration of ICT University for any clarification.
The win-win agreement which seeks to boost learning and research in both institutions was signed on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in Buea.
The Vice Chancellor then signed on behalf of his institution, while Professor Victor Mbarika, Founder and President of the Board of Trustees of the ICT University, with multiple campuses in developing countries, signed for the institution. To ICT University, it represents the best national academic partnership and recognition.
This comes on the wake of social media reports that the ICT university was not recognized anywhere as a university following complaints from students who said they have had time times trying to certify their degrees to engage in international programs.
UB has now confirmed that the certification is on course, putting an end to worries.
CNA asked an insider at the ICT university who said those who graduated before the agreement would also be attended to by UB.
“Article 4 sub 4 of the agreement states that UB shall specifically undertake to “recognize all certificates and diplomats issued by the ICT University”. the insider said.
