Bamenda: Gunmen murder businessman in cold blood

By Hans Ngala

A man in his thirties identified to CNA simply as John Paul has been found dead from gunshot wounds. According to a source familiar with the incident, John Paul was dragged out of his house at Njengang Quarter in Bamenda on Wednesday January 16 and shot dead along the way as he is believed to have put up a resistance with his captors.
A source speaking to CNA from Bamenda said: “The gunmen came to the quarter around 8PM and put a gun to the head of a boy that lived next door to John Paul. They told the boy to go and knock on the door and so when the boy knocked and another child that lived with John Paul asked who it was, he heard the neighbor’s son’s voice and went to open the door. As he opened it, the gunmen pushed the door open and dragged John Paul out and just about one hundred meters from the house, they heard gunshots”.
An elderly man while passing saw John Paul’s lifeless body in a pool of his own blood and raised an alarm.
John Paul was a shareholder in the Nso Boys travel agency and owned a 70-seater bus. He had recently just married and his wife put to birth three months ago. The native of Tatum village in Nso was known as a jovial and outgoing person whose murder has dealt a severe blow to his loved ones.
