Cameroon’s chief Justice Ayah Paul passes on Christmas day
Used and abandoned to lick his wounds, Chief Justice Ayah Paul Abine, a former Advocate General at the Supreme Court of Cameroon passed away on Christmas Day.
Barrister Chief Justice was imprisoned in 2017 for allegedly supporting Separatists’ agenda. He spent 9 months in jail and when he was released, he developed problems with his vision until his death.
In an interview with local media, Equinoxe TV, he revealed that his pension had been blocked and his bank accounts frozen without any justifications.
The former leader of the Popular Action Party, PAP, was a member of the ruling, Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM party but resigned by standing as a candidate in the 2011 presidential elections.
His objection of a constitutional amendment in 2008 that saw the presidential term limit scrapped off made his an enemy of the state and the party.
He eventually resigned but his actions were never forgiven by th power mongers in Yaounde.
He died at the age fo 74, leaving behind an incorruptible legacy in the Anglophone community
