Galim: man kills ex-wife over cheating

By Stephen TADAHA

A man is on the run after brutality killing his ex-wife on the night of Saturday, October 19, in Tata, a locality in the Galim Subdivision, in the Bamboutos Division of the West.

Hilaire Mekué, in his forties, well known as a member of the local vigilante committee in the area, is said to have left his village Mengoh, still in Galim, and traveled nearly 4km to commit the atrocity.

His victim Noubop Laure, the mother of his three children, had left their home following marital tensions.

According to locals, it was around 9 p.m. on Saturday night that Hilaire showed up at his in-laws house which was hosting his ex-wife and threatened everyone with a dagger and a weapon before hitting his target.

Alerted of the macabre incident, neighbors immediately called the police to try and save Laure’s life.  Unfortunately she will pass away at the hospital in Mbouda town.

Curiously, the weekend before, Hilaire Mekué was present at his mother-in-law’s funeral.  According to some reports, he suspected his divorced wife of cheating on him.

After his crime, the alleged assassin left a letter in which he indicated that he would have killed himself.

After a few days spent in the morgue, the body of Lady Noubop Laure was removed this Tuesday, October 22 and will be buried at the family house in Tata.
