CCFGA Condemns Politicization of Education in Southern Cameroons
Yaounde, Cameroon(CNA) The Coalition of Cameroon Federalist Groups and Activists (CCFGA) has issued a statement condemning the ongoing disruptions to education in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon. The group has called on all parties involved to prioritize the well-being of students and refrain from using education as a political tool.
In the statement, the CCFGA expressed its support for students, teachers, and parents in former Southern Cameroons, highlighting the significant academic disadvantages they face due to lockdowns, threats, and other obstacles. The group emphasized that the people of the region overwhelmingly oppose any restrictions on educational access.
“Credible opinion polls have shown that the people of former Southern Cameroons overwhelmingly oppose any restriction to educational access. As people who value freedom, they are appalled by the signs of a totalitarian state being imposed by those who seek separation and the current CPDM government.”

The CCFGA criticized both separatist groups and the ruling CPDM government for their roles in the ongoing conflict. They accused separatists of using lockdowns and restrictions as a means to advance their agenda, while condemning the CPDM’s attempts to politicize education through practices such as distributing exercise books with political messages.
The coalition reiterated its call for a federal system of government as the only viable solution to the crisis in the English-speaking regions. They argued that such a system would address the underlying grievances of the population and ensure a more equitable distribution of resources and power.
