18 Cameroonians selected for Mandela Washington Fellowship
Eighteen inspiring young Cameroonians were selected for the esteemed 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship, a flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). This prestigious program offers a unique opportunity for these rising stars to embark on a six-week leadership immersion experience.
Focusing on either Business, Civic Engagement, or Public Management, the Mandela Washington Fellowship equips fellows with the knowledge and tools needed to tackle critical issues facing their communities. Through workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities, the program fosters collaboration between young leaders across Africa and the United States.
Upon returning to Cameroon, the fellows will be empowered to implement their visions for progress. Their participation in the Mandela Washington Fellowship program signifies a significant investment in the future leadership of Cameroon.
A journalist, who is among the 18, already in the US, Waji Kiga Elis said it is a lifetime achievement, “Thrilled to announce that I have been selected for the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. An interesting journey begins at the Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.”
