By Nchendzengang Tatah

The Imam of Buea has reiterated the need for peace and the value of human life in Cameroon and across the globe during celebrations of the Feast of the Ram, June 16, 2024.

Sheikh Mohammed Aboubakar spoke at the esplanade of the Buea Central Mosque to thousands of muslim faithfuls who turned out for the worship.

“We think that it is time for countries, leaders to get back to their shelves and see what God meant by creating a human. There is a reason why God created a human being,” the muslim cleric emphasized.

He explained that, human life shouldn’t be destroyed in the manner it is today. “What type of terrorism are you fighting by destroying humanity?”

The Imam of Buea went on to call on leaders to chat a way for peaceful communities. “Leader are standing up, but it is not enough because there is hypocrisy in all what they are doing,” he said.

The muslim leader made a call for those in authority to seek and ensure that human life is valued. He prescribed solidarity, love, and cooperation to build a better society.

Administrative and local authorities also answered present on the holy grounds. Amongst, was the Inspector General at the Governor’s Office, Wouslou Jacques and the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West, Mrs Motaze Dorothy.

Muslims around the world traditionally slaughter a ram or another animal on Eid al-Adha, in memory of the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his own son when God ordered him to.
