North West and South West regions tail FENASCO B games with no gold medal

The English-speaking regions of Cameroon have finished bottom of the FENASCO B games which rounded up on Thursday, June 13, in Bafoussam West region presided over by Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, minister of sports and physical education and Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa of Basic Education.

The South West region took the 9th position with 10 medals, 3 silver and 7 bronze while the North West occupied the 10th position with 11 medals, 2 silver and 9 bronze.

The West region that hosted the 2024 edition were crowned champions grabbing 35 medals with 15 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze. On the second spot was the East with 36 medals, 12 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze. The podium was completed by the Far North with an overall 26 medals, 12 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze.

The five-day event brought together over 1,400 athletes from private and public primary schools from all 10 Regions of Cameroon who competed in collective, individual and paralympic sports disciplines in the quest of the 192 medals put in place by the organizers.

During the closing ceremony which took place at the Tocket stadium, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi called on stakeholders of the games, to relent no effort in combatting ills that might slow down the practices of sports.

“Permit me to tell those who will be involved in the organization of the next editions to relent no effort in the fight against drug consumption, cheating, fraud. To scrupulously respect the ethics of education and to organize befitting Championships in various school environments while strictly applying decisions from the morphology commission ” Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said.

The 18th edition in 2025 will be hosted by the South West Region.
