WCQ: MINSEP preparatory meeting goes on successfully
The meeting at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education in preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Angola has been successfully held, Wednesday, May 29, in Yaounde.
It was scheduled after the tense working session at the FECAFOOT headquarters, a day earlier, which did not attain its objective due to the parallel views of the new coach Marc Brys, his collaborators and FECAFOOT that had come together to find a common ground after weeks of disagreement over the national team coaching staff.
The sports minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, pointed out during the preparatory meeting at the MINSEP conference hall, that the game against Cape Verde will be an opportunity to put back smiles on the faces of Cameroonians after the AFCON 2023.
“We hope that the game against Cape Verde gives back smiles to the Cameroonian sporting public after the dismal performance of the Lions in Ivory Coast” the minister said.
He indicated that the selected players for the matches to be played on June 8 and 11 in Yaounde and Luanda respectively, will commence camping on June 2.
It is yet to be known if FECAFOOT has accepted to work with the State-appointed staff. The federation sent representatives to attend the meeting at the ministry. The events on Wednesday came after Samuel Eto’o and his executive committee appointed Martin Ndtoungou Mpile as the interim coach following the unsuccessful meeting at the federation a day earlier.
