GSL: FC Ebolowa crowned 2024 champions

FC Ebolowa has been crowned champions of the 2023/2024 Female Division One Championship, marking the team’s first championship win since their ascension to the league.

The team sealed their victory with an impressive 5-0 win against As Fortuna on the final day of the championship, amassing a total of 56 points and a 22-game unbeaten record in the league.

The outstanding performance of Flora Kameni paved the way for Ebolowa’s Coronation, as Kameni secured the leading goal scorer position with 26 goals and 5 Woman of the Match awards.

Prior to the final match day, FC Ebolowa was in a close contest with Lekkie Football Filles, who were tied at 53 points with Ebolowa.

However, Lekkie’s 7-1 win over Eding Filles and Ebolowa’s 5-0 win ensured that both teams remained tied at 56 points but In the end, Ebolowa’s technical head-to-head advantage served as the first tiebreaker and earned them the title.

The win is particularly significant, as FC Ebolowa is the first team from the South Region to have won a national championship in Cameroon.
