Some Christians of the Catholic Diocese of Buea are on a pilgrimage to Rome as part of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the erection of the ecclesiastical district by the holy see.
The band of pilgrims is led by the Bishop of Buea, Most Rev. Michael Bibi who says the journey is meant to thank God for his grace from 1950.
The 9-day pilgrimage, on Monday, May 6, entered day 4. Pilgrims celebrated mass at the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, the mother, and head of all Churches in Rome. They also witnessed the Papal Angelus with Pope Francis last Sunday.
On Monday, the official social media handle of the Diocese reported that the pilgrims are visiting Asissi, the birthplace of the Franciscan Order.
The Local Ordinary of Buea has committed the priests of the diocese in prayers for God to bless, increase, and inspire their ministry. He prayed also that the religious and laity may continually be strengthened in their work.
The 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea was launched on 18th April, at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral Buea. Activities running till the final celebration in 2025 are under the theme; “Proclaim the Good News, I am with you always!”
