Antoine Bell among African legends honoured by Olympique of Marseille
Eleven former African footballers who played for Olympique of Marseille, were honoured by the club in the Ligue 1 match against OGC Nice on Wednesday which ended 2-2.
Habib Bamogo, Ibrahima Bakayoko, Joseph-Antoine Bell, Basile Boli, Aboubacar “Titi” Camara, Abdoulaye Meite, Salomon Olembe, Lamine Sakho, Cyrille Domoraud, Abdoulaye Diallo, and Kaba Diawara, were all present at the Orange Velodrome Stadium.
The legends were invited by the nine-time France Ligue 1 champions, to watch the game, as part of the celebration of a longstanding bond with Africa.
“They made the colours of Olympique of Marseille shine in France, Europe, and on the African continent” the club said in a statement.
Newly launched kits, designed with the label “OM Africa” to mark the celebration of the ties, were handed to the former players with their names printed on them.
The reunion also served as an opportunity for the legends to talk to the young players and instil in them the fighting spirit that used to fuel them in the past.
