The president of Cameroon, Paul Biya urged Cameroonians from all walks of life to show their support for the Indomitable Lions during the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte D’Ivoire.

The president made this call during his annual end-of-year speech on December 31st, 13 days before the start of the 34th edition of the competition where he specifically emphasized the imperative of attaining victory during the tournament.

In a section of his speech directed at the public, President Biya stated: “In a few weeks’ time, our dear Indomitable Lions will be taking part in the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. On behalf of all of you, I would like to offer them all our encouragement and ask them to defend, as they have done in the past, their country’s colours with bravery and honour.”

The Indomitable Lions are currently in Jeddah, wrapping up their preparations for the AFCON finals, which will run from January 13th to February 11th.

Cameroon will begin their group stage campaign on January 15th against Guinea, who were runners-up in 1976, before facing defenders Senegal on January 19th in an exhilarating rematch of the 2002 tournament final, which Cameroon won in Bamako.
