Yaounde: food vendors say poor sales frustrating them this season
Few days to Christmas celebration, vendors in Cameroon’s political capital say sales are very slow compared to previous years.
According to the food vendors in the city, food stuffs especially goat meat, pork and beef are available in large quantities to serve everyone during this period but the turnout of buyers is very timid though prices have remained unchanged.
“We have enough to satisfy customers during this period. The prices are the same but business is very slow,” a vendor complained.
Despite this, buyers say lack of finance during this end of year period is making it almost impossible for them to buy any gifts for their children.
“It is very difficult for us this period. At times, children want a particular dress or shoe, the prices have trippled making it very hard for us to afford. Before, you could come to the market with F CFA 5,000 and get a very good pair of shoes but now, this is very impossible,” some buyers complained.
christmas is celebrated every year on December 25th and vendors across Yaounde say their fingers remain crossed that sales increase in the coming days.
