Automobile activities remain paralyzed in Douala
Commercial motorbike riders and other users of gasoline (super) have overcrowded filling stations in the city of Douala with little supply.
At the Total filling station at “trois morts”, police officers were present to maintain order by instructing the crowd cue up in lines before they are served. Many cued up in long lines with containers and sold the fuel in little quantity.

At the Ola filling station in Akwa, the absence of law enforcement officers saw the scramble generate into a fight among the fuel scramblers.
An instance also witnessed was a bike rider pushing a mother asking her what she needed fuel for in a container.
Some individuals who bought in containers were spotted at a corner reselling in litres at higher costs to bike riders who have no chance to approach the fuel agent.
On Saturday and Sunday when the situation went chronic, only few bikes were in circulation, affecting city dwellers who were charged almost double, what they used to pay as transport fair to their respective destinations.
Early Monday, denizens faced difficulties going to their job sites on time, especially those who dared bargaining the fair charged them by the few bike riders who were working.
“We just hope the fuel problem is addressed as soon as possible. I have been standing here for close to a hour, yet unable to get a bike to go to work.” Said a stranded denizen in Bepanda.
In a press release signed by the Minister of Water and Energy resources, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, the supply operation will be normalized on Tuesday December 12, 2023.
