Nigeria: Federal gov’t to probe on Kaduna bombings

The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima said the government is fully committed to investigating the Kaduna bombings that killed dozens.

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, a military drone released bombs on the inhabitants of Tudun Biri in Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government Area, killing at least 90 people, local media reported.

The residents had gathered to celebrate the Maulud but were surprised by bombs falling on them like rain, leaving 90 dead and more than 60 injured.

The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima said the government will probe into the incident and punish anyone responsible.

The assurance was given during a visit paid to victims receiving treatment at a Hospital in the Kaduna State capital on Thursday.

“There is no gain in dwelling too much on this incident that has happened. I am here because the President is deeply concerned; he was deeply touched by what happened. Let’s not talk about the numbers, one life lost in cold blood is as gruesome as millions lost in a pogrom. The heart of the President is with the bereaved families.” VP Shetima said.

The Nigerian Army said, “Troops were carrying out aerial patrols when they observed a group of people and wrongly analyzed and misinterpreted their pattern of activities to be similar to that of the bandits, before the drone strike.” The Army also visited the area and promised to support the victims.
