“Cameroon’s rugby was dying” Thierry Essono
The Dynamism Tournament which is in Act 2, will unite rugby teams in Kribi on Saturday, December 9, for day 3 of the current phase of the competition.
An initiative of the Essono Group and under the supervision of the National Technical Direction of Rugby, the tournament was created to keep Cameroonian rugby players active, while the dispute at the helm of the Cameroon Rugby Federation gets settled.
Order is yet to return to the federation ever since the normalization committee led by Felix Onana Etoundi took charge.
The creation of the Dynamism Tournament also came as a result of dissatisfaction over the work done by the normalization committee.
“We realized that failure was hitting Cameroon rugby. We reached at a certain level in terms of matches and the infrastructure for the games and security, that everything was almost dead” Thierry Essono, a member of the federation’s executive committee said.
He evoked “ridiculous” match bonuses received by Cameroon’s national teams in Madagascar and Mauritius this year as one of the failures that will have to be addressed as the Dynamic Tournament gains ground across Cameroon.
“We call on the various Rugby clubs that want to play or prepare or train ahead of the upcoming competitions organized by the Federation to join” Thierry Essono said.
The organizers of the tournament envisage a nationwide engagement in the competition which has already been played in Douala, Yaounde and now in Kribi.
