2023 Volleyball championship: Cameroon lose to Egypt in opener

Egypt beat Cameroon 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13) in the ongoing 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship hosted in Nigeria’s capital Abuja.
Cameroon put up a good fight winning the 1st set 25-23 points but the Egyptian team quickly regained their footing in the second set, leading by 5 points before Cameroon picked up one point. Egypt maintained the momentum and won the set by a score of 25 to 18 points.
The third set was a nail-biter, with both teams showing impressive defensive skills. After being tied 20 to 20 points, Egypt took the set by 25 to 22 points.
In the fourth set, the Cameroon team made some tactical changes in their starting six to stop the Opposite player of the Egyptian team. Their efforts paid off, as they won by 25 to 22 points.
In the fifth and final set, the North African team emerged victorious, winning by 15 to 13 points and maintaining their unbeaten record at the championship.
The said U17 African girl’s volleyball championship is the first Edition with only three African teams including Cameroon, Nigeria, and Egypt. All three teams already qualified for the U17 World Volleyball Championship.
