GSL Day 7: ITA Mbong FC suffers third consecutive defeat
By Biwah Bryan
Newly promoted female division one side ITA Mbong FC of Nkambe suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season against FC Ebolowa who won 3-1 to remain unbeaten in 7 games.
FC Ebolowa opened scores during the first half when Brunello Beulou penetrated ITA Mbong’s defense to score the first goal of the game. Flora Kameni followed up with another goal minutes later, extending their lead to 2-0 after a tight shot caught goalkeeper Shey Glory off-guard.
Shey Antoinette of ITA Mbong soon made a swift move outside the box, found her way into the 18-meter box, and scored, making it 2-1 just before the break.
Desperation to tie the game put ITA Mbong on the hot seat during the second half as a costly mistake at midfield gave birth to a loose ball, which resulted in another goal for FC Ebolowa through Flora Kameni.
The game ended 3-1 in favor of FC Ebolowa, securing their spot at the top of the table with 19 points. Meanwhile, ITA Mbong FC will drop to a lower rank on the classification table, having lost their third consecutive game out of seven played, winning only two.
ITA Mbong FC must re-strategize and work towards bouncing back from their losses to avoid a further drop in table standings and an eventual relegation.
