Cameroon, Asian countries to foster cooperation ties
The government of Cameroon has expressed its commitment to fostering cooperation ties with Asian countries.
This was made known by the Minister of External Relations, MINREX, Mbella Mbella during the launch of the pioneer edition of the Cameroon-Asia Friendship Week in Yaounde. The event took place on Tuesday, November 29, 2023.
According to Minister Mbella, Mbella, Friendship Week aims to reinforce relations between Cameroon and the Asian Countries.
“This event reflects the government’s determination to reinforce relations with the Asian countries…the ceremony will unfold with activities involved to inform the public of the riches and diversities of the population in Cameroon and the Asian countries,” the Minister said.
He further stated that; “The Friendship Week will foster new partnerships between the public and private sector and restore new horizons to attract more investors,”.
According to statistics presented by the Minister, Asian countries significantly contribute to the economic development of Cameroon, through the financing and implementation of projects in the fields of agriculture, health, road, port, airport, and rain infrastructure.
Asian countries are also said to contribute to the training g of Cameroonians in terms of capacity building through scholarships in various forms.
Also speaking during the event, the minister of the Economy, Planning, and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey said; “It is certainly a great honor for Cameroon to receive your cooperation towards development,”.
