Insecurity in Tubah as Bambili, Nkwen fight over land
Fear has gripped the people of Bambili village in Tubah Subdivision, Mezam Division in the North West region following the fight over a piece of land with the neighboring village of Nkwen.
On Thursday, November 23, 2023, the situation took a different shift, as houses were set ablaze and some locals were wounded at the scene.
Inhabitants of Bambili are blaming the people of Nkwen for unlawfully selling their land. While the people of Nkwen are of the opinion that the land belongs to them.
The situation caused the population of Bambili to come out on Thursday to fight back. But the presence of the DO and Mayor of Tubah calmed the riots.
The Mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin has called on his people to be peaceful and wait for authorities to address the situation.
“This has not been seen anywhere. I’m calling on my people not to fight back, Cameroon is a country of law and I think the authorities are going to do their work,” Mayor Tanjong.
It is said that the issue between both villages traces back many years. The land borders Bambili, Nkwen and Bambui. It’s located in the industrial zone.
