Kekem: 15-year-old girl detained alongside two suspects for bike theft

A 15-year-old girl whose name CNA got as Esther Shekina has been detained at the Kekem police station in the West region for alleged theft.

She is accused of stealing a motorcycle alongside two other suspects, Pokam Max and Ndipi Guy, 31 and 32 years old respectively.

“The two men are ex-convicts. The three of them threw pepper in the eyes of Dairou Hassan recently in Bafoussam and as he was struggling, they took away his bike,” Peug Huma Njoya Ibrahim, the Kekem Police Commissioner explained.

The three suspected bike thieves were apprehended while on their way to Douala by security forces at a control post.

Esther, the 15-year-old girl, during their presentation to the public said, “circumstances pushed me to the streets and to join a criminal gang. While at home, my stepmother, gave me no peace.”

The Kekem police commissioner called on parents to raise their children in love and respect their rights to avoid forcing them into the streets.
