Douala: gendarmerie officials hand two suspected bandits to justice
Two suspected armed bandits who had been arrested in the Douala IV subdivision by elements of the Bonaberi Gendarmerie company and presented to the public on Tuesday October 3, 2023 are now in the New bell prison awaiting trial.
31-year-old Kamdem alias “Tête Dure” and 36-year-old Bakayo are accused of causing terror in the Bonaberi neighborhood.
“We had received series of complaints from the population about men of the underworld disturbing their peace. An anonymous informant hinted us about Kamdem and Bakayoko. It permitted us to launch an operation that resulted in their arrest,” Commander Awoumou Owona Yves Norbert of the Bonaberi Gendarmerie company explained.
Arms and munitions they used to carry out their operations, as well as several motorcycles were seized and also presented to the public.
“With the help of the arms and munitions, they attacked and deprived the population of their motorcycles and valuables,” Commander Awoumou added.
One of the suspects, Bakayoko, is said to be a former member of the Ivorian military, seeking refuge in Cameroon.
