New Bamboutos SDO begs for peace, rounds up contact tour
By Stephen TADAHA
“The Bamboutos Division, border to the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon should not be a crisis zone for Christ’s sake.”
This is the message dished out on Thursday, July 20, 2023, by the new Senior Divisional Officer for Bamboutos, David Dador Dibango, as he rounded up his contact tour and sociocultural animation in his area of command. The tour which began a week ago took him through Galim, Babadjou, Batcham Subdivisions, and finally the town of Mbouda, the chief town of the Bamboutos. His tour was centered on the slogan “Peace, Work and Development”.
The contact tour was not only an opportunity for the SDO to discover the administrative unit, but also to touch reality on the field faced by the local population through question and answer sessions organized in each locality.
Major problems tormenting the population such as land disputes, chieftaincy, water crises, and health and security issues, were raised by the population. David Dador Dibango brought explicit answers and promised to always be by the population to help develop Bamboutos.
He however insisted on the collaboration between the population and security forces to overcome crime waves and incursions by separatist fighters from the neighboring North West and South West Regions.
Dibango was appointed as the 21st Senior Divisional Officer for Bamboutos on April 6, 2023, to replace François Franquelin Etapa and was officially installed on May 2, 2023.
