SW football stakeholders ‘throw Njalla Quan in sea’, say Eto’o forever
This was a new twist in the ongoing saga between the former 4th Vice President of the Cameroon Football Federation and the promotor of Njalla Quan Sports Academy, Henry Njalla Quan Jr.
Unexpectedly, some 28 football stakeholders, including club presidents, Fecafoot South West officials among others, penned a motion of support to the national president, Samuel Eto’o Fils.
The motion on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, came a few hours after the former Vice president resigned from his function, following a suspension for violating article 42 of Fecafoto texts.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life. After hours of soul-searching and deep thoughts, I have made a hard but natural decision to resign from FECAFOOT and withdraw entirely from all football-related activities. I would like to thank all those who have been with me throughout this journey; different football stakeholders, club owners, coaches, players, family, friends, people of goodwill, and above all, God almighty! Lastly, I tender my sincere apology to all those I may have hurt in words or in action during, before, and after the 2021 FECAFOOT elections. Moving on, I would be concentrating fully on my professional career as well as passive entrepreneurial activities and I wish the best to all members of the Cameroon Football family. God bless our football and our great country, Cameroon!” Henry Njalla Quan said in a statement.
In the motion, the stakeholders said Samuel Eto’o has a ‘keen interest in developing football in the region and that, “Football Stakeholders say a BIG NO to any individual or a group of persons who want to mess up and bring disorder in the football family of the South West Region.”
Disavowing Njalla Quan Jr, a former Eto’o ally, now critic. This statement by the Stakeholders is also indirectly sent to the former 4th Vice president, telling him that despite the fact that they are all from the same region, he has been thrown into the waters to drown alone.
Kumba City Versus Njalla Quan Sports Academy, the Forgotten Match
If Njalla Quan’s outburst is seen as a personal vendetta with Samuel Eto’o that began when he sent an official letter on June 20, 2023, the match that pitted his club and a regional side, Kumba City FC, leaves much to be desired.
The Club from Man o War Bay, was shown 5 red cards, 3 yellow cards, and 3 penalties in an away match of the South West Mini Interpools. Njalla Quan said this was a match-fixing game that was commanded from the headquarters of Fecafoot to punish his team.
Surprisingly, the South West Regional league is yet to officially comment on the issue. Reached by the CNA desk, the President Ndazeh Valery said hsi office has not received such complaints. “If someone feels that the referees are not doing a good job there is a prescription according to the text to write a technical protest against the referee or Referees…If the clubs fails to do it then it implies they didn’t see anything wrong in the officiating during the course of the match. Therefore it’s now left on the referees report and match commissioners report to see if there was a problem in the game and if in their reports there is nothing implicating in that report then you can’t open anything except otherwise,” he said.
This leaves much to be desired. Is Njalla right at all that he was being targeted? In a match where one team is given 5 red cards, 3 yellow, and 3 penalties, does this not call for concerns and investigations? I fthe question is yes, why has the club not adhered to the texts and send a technical report as required.
As stakeholders throw unflinching support behind their national president, football lovers are also waiting on the position of the league and homologation commission to comment on the match for June 28, 2023, which took place in Limbe.
