League one: clubs have two more play days to show their worth

By Stephen TADAHA

League one teams have just two days left to put out their best performances before the doors of the season are closed.

North West clubs have not been in the best of shapes but their chances of dropping to inferior leagues are slim.

Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda had a difficult trip to Yaounde where they faced YAFOOT. At halftime, the boys of Amunewa Franklin were a goal down. They needed just 3 minutes to change the fate of the game thanks to a brace from Mael Dindjeke. The match end 2-1 for YOSA, meaning the team now moves to the 6th position in group B with 24 points and just a game left.

Their next and last game will be against Astres in Douala in two weeks.

PWD Social Club of Bamenda on their part managed to grab a point in the clash against group A heavyweight Canon Sportive of Yaounde at the Mbouda Arena Stadium on Sunday April 16th. The precious point puts the Abakwa boys on the 8th position with 22 points and two games left. Their next game promises to be a tough battle against another heavyweight Coton Sports of Garoua at the Rhoumde Adja Stadium in Garoua.

Their last game will be against Renaissance of Ngoumou at the Mbouda Arena Stadium in two weeks.

The Abakwa boys in their two remaining games will need to grab at least 4 points to secure maintenance.

The first team that has grabbed a playoff ticket is Bamboutos FC of Mbouda despite their 1-1 draw with Astres last April 15th. The qualification ticket was thanks to Fovu’s defeat 1-2 by APEJES at the Bamendzi stadium in a simultaneous encounter.

The Boys of Yves Clément Arroga have a total of 34 points with just two games left. Their next game will be in Garoua on matchday 21 against second place Gazelle.

The second playoff spot now will be between Gazelle and Fovu.

Other results of day 20 matches were as follows:

Dragon 1-2 Union
Coton 4-1 UMS
Aigle 1-0 Stade Renard
DJIKO 1-1 Eding
Avion 1-2 Renaissance
