CNA sports: PWD and YOSA game, 2023 AFROCAN and AFCON qualifiers, new handball season

Football : 2023 AFCON Qualifiers

The indomptable Lions of Cameroon will this Friday March 24th 2023 face Namibia at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde. The match that was initially scheduled for 8:30PM, will be played at 9:30PM local time as contained in a release from the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT.

Cameroon currently tops group C with 3 points.

MTN Elite One : Mbouda Arena Stadium to host both PWD and YOSA this weekend

Day 18 matches of the league one championship have been scheduled for this weekend with relegation zone occupants, PWD of Bamenda to host a game at the Mbouda Arena Stadium for the first time this season. The Abakwa boys, ranked 10th in group A with 16 points will be looking forward to getting a second consecutive victory when they face Djiko FC of Bandjoun on Sunday March 26 at 2pm.

Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda, 9th in group B with 17 points, will attempt to bounce back after their painful defeat to Fovu on match day 17. The Yellow Submarines will host Gazelle of Garoua in a game that promises to be a difficult one because the Garoua Boys are currently second in the group with 25 points. The game will be played at 4pm still at the Mbouda Arena Stadium.

Group B leaders Bamboutos FC of Mbouda on their part, will travel to Yaounde where they will face Fauve Azur at the Ngoa-Ekelle stadium as from 4pm.

League 2 Championship: Opopo knocks at the league one doors

Victoria United continue their good run in the league 2 championship after extending their lead to 8 points. The lone club from the troubled South West region defeated Rangers of Bafut 2-0 in their day 20 outing of the championship. They now have 37 points in 19 games.

Foncha Street of Bamenda on their part were thrashed by Aigle of Moungo 3-0. They are just a spot to the relegation zone.

Basketball: AFROCAN 2023

The Lions of Cameroon will on Friday March 24th and Saturday March 25th play their last games in Zone 4 of the 2023 AFROCAN qualifiers taking place at the Yaounde multipurpose sports complex.

The team will respectively face Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to grab the lone ticket in the zone. The zone is made up of Cameroon, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Cameroon is currently second with 4 points in 2 games. Winning their two last games will give them the lone ticket in the zone. The two remaining matches will be played at 6pm.

AFROCAN is a basketball competition meant for players based on the African continent. The second edition will be hosted by Angola from July 7-16.

Handball

The 2023 national elite championship begins on April 8th and 9th, 2023 and the first edition of the Cameroon Super Cup will be played on April 5th and 6th 2023 at the gymnasium of the Yaounde Omnisports stadium.

This is one of the resolutions taken during FECAHAND’s board meeting that was held at its headquarters in Yaounde on February 25th this year.

As a result, club presidents have up to March 31st, 2023 to deposit their team documents at the General Secretariat of FECAHAND.
