Nigerian singer, Burna Boy to perform at champions league final

Nigerian songwriter and award-winning artist, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known by his professional name Burna Boy will perform alongside other artists at the 2023 UEFA champions league final kickoff show.
The UEFA champions league show will take place at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
This, therefore, means that Burna will become the first African artist to perform at the finals of the competition.
Well known for his record-hit label, Last Last, the Nigerian Grammy award-winning artist has confirmed that he will be present during the show.
“As a huge football fan myself, I know it doesn’t get any bigger than the UEFA Champions League! That’s why I’m so excited to be performing on the Pepsi stage at this year’s final. Music and football are the ultimate combinations, so you already know I’ll be bringing the vibes and making magic in Istanbul. The world isn’t ready for what we have in store!”
The 31-year-old is expected to pull a huge crowd to keep them lively before the start of the greatest European football competition final.
UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein noted on Twitter that the show forms a “significant part of our joint efforts with Pepsi, providing an incredible opportunity to reach new and younger audiences with some of the biggest names and rising stars in music. We’re excited to showcase a line-up of talented artists at this season’s final in Istanbul in what is sure to be an energetic and memorable performance”
Burna Boy is one of the few celebrated artists in Africa. He is noted to have pulled a huge crowd during his first concert in Jamaica on December 18, 2022, at the Jamaica National Stadium.
His song, Last Last still stands for the record as one of the most streamed videos on YouTube with 174 million views in 10 months.
On 19 March 2021, Burna Boy was featured on Canadian singer Justin Bieber’s song “Loved by You”, a track from his sixth studio album, Justice.
At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards held on 15 March 2021, he won the Grammy award for Best Global Music album. Burna Boy’s song “Destiny” was also included in the playlist at the inauguration of the American president, Joe Biden.
He also won Best International Act at the 2021 BET Awards, becoming the first African artist to win the award three consecutive times.
