Moutain Cameroon Race clocks 50

Everything is set for a smooth kickstart of the mount Cameroon Race of Hope 2023 this Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Molyko Omni sports stadium.

The organizing committee charged with responsibilities to ensure a smooth race says all sectors are ready including animation teams. The athletes are being examined by the medical team and are being asked questions by the medical personnel.

Questions like experience in running and sports and how many meters are covered. DR. Akono Zeh head of the medical team said all the athletes tested medically are fit for the race.

” This is my first time coming in for the race and I have been training consistently for over one year now just for tomorrow’s race. There must be a winner and a loser but I pray I am amongst the winners because I deserve it” Bertrand Billa an athlete said.

” This is my first time and year to participate in the race and I pray that God gives me the strength and wisdom I need to run tomorrow and emerge successful as much as I know there are other women in the race who think and pray for what I pray for, may the best woman win. My parents and family are already so proud of me and I am more proud of myself for making this decision. Women can also strive to survive in a world where things are made so difficult and I am one of those young women” Marylise Wirba a Female Athlete assured her readiness.

The Mayor of Buea, David Mafany Namange says the athletes were carefully selected and given several tasks and are all fit “Majority of the athletes were selected from the boxing race organized every year at pala-pala field Bakweri town and Buea town and these boys are very energetic while others trained individually and registered. For anyone who registered had to go through different teams. Questions were asked and a list of selected candidates was published. The animation and medical teams are all ready. I think this year’s race will be different and more interesting”

The minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi represented the Head of State, President Paul Biya at the opening ceremony in Buea on February 24, 2023.

This year, the Race of Hope will be in its 28th edition, but the entire Mountain Race dates back 50 years. It was only renamed, Race of Hope in 1996.

This year, 600 Athletes will be challenging the Chariots of the gods.
