Supreme court president says crypto currency destroying Cameroonians

The Supreme Court’s President, Daniel Makobe Sone, during their opening session held on February 22, 2023 seriously condemned cyber criminality in Cameroon which he says has taken over the entire nation and has become the main preoccupation of youths.

The President expressed his dissatisfaction at the fact that cyber criminals are not punished by law as they should.

“Majority of our children today misbehave on social media. Its either they are watching criminal things or doing offensive things. Cyber misconduct has risen to about 88% in Cameroon and so many people have bern victims. Crypto currency is not recognized in our bank or any bank in the world so I really cannot understand why someone would use his money on imaginary things. I recall years back when the whole system crashed, people who had invested millions some died of heart attack. We will punish anyone caught practising cyber criminality for whatever reason.”

He also urged parents to control their children’s use of social media and discipline them accordingly.

“I am aware a hand full of security agents like gendarmes, police and even commissioners now have become close friends with these cyber criminals. Security agents are called by cyber criminals at any time they are being held in police custody. Some of the criminals are well known and are allowed to by-pass check points even while driving on high speed because of the material gains security agents receive from them. Any police officer or gendarme or leader caught harbouring these criminals will be treated as a criminal.”

” We should be more careful and learn to invest our money wisely on things feasible and not unknown businesses and market. I remind you all of the consequences that await any one caught practicing cyber criminality or fostering it,” Luc Ndjodo, Attorney General of the Supreme Court added.

The Supreme court has a ritual of opening once every year. The President ended by saying the underground market is dangerous for the economy of Cameroon.
