Ekondo Titi: military engineers welcomed with peace plants

The people of Ekondo Titi, Ndian division have expressed their joy and have welcomed military engineers who arrived on February 14 2023 for the kumba road construction project.

The population held peace plants and were singing in different languages. The engineers are expected to tarr the road and the people say this will be a great relief to them.

“15000frs is what we pay during the rainy season and 6,000- 7,000frs during the dry season as transportation fee to move our farm products to the markets in Kumba and with the tarring of the road, we will be paying 1000frs which is so much of a burden taken off our shoulders,” Godfred Tamyoung a farmer in Ekondo Titi beams.

“From the faces and the population, I can see for myself that my people are happy and the peace plant is a sign of calmness and justice. With Pamol supplying oil in Cameroon, there will be no problem anymore in transportation of crops and oil to different parts,” Ekondo Titi Mayor, Margaret Ndiba says.

“It will bring us development and other good things to follow if we truly give peace a chance and we continue to ask those in the bushes to drop their arms and come home. It is not too late and let us develop our town together,” Ful Francis Muh the Divisional Officer for Ekondo Titi reiterated.

“We really are grateful that the President kept his words and is making sure that we can finally have good roads. Without a road everything is stagnant especially for most of us who depend solely on farming. Things will be made so easy on us now that the project of tarring our road has started and we can easily get into Kumba and back without much stress. To me, this is a sign of peace and all should embrace it,” Gladys Numfor, an inhabitant of the divison says.

The tarring of the Kumba-Ekondo Titi road is expected to begin in months ahead.
