Mankon: Fon Angwafo IV highlights lack of social amenities as mourning of late monarch ends

The Nikwi festival during which last honours were paid to Fon Angwafo III, has come to an end.

Activities marking the month-long event were held from December 15, 2022 to January 15, 2023.

The Mankon population took the opportunity to present their problems which successor, Fon Asah Angwafo IV, has highlighted as pressing needs in his fondom.

“We need a lot. We need water, we need light, and so many other things,” the King stated.

The cries come after the one-month mourning period during which no agricultural or other related economic activity took place across the land.

With the Nikwi festival over, the population can now resume their activities, while hoping their requests for social amenities would be granted by state authorities.

Fon Angwafo IV now has it as his responsibility, to ensure that the Kingdom’s needs are met.

The 49-year-old was designated as the new King of Mankon, after his predecessor Fon Solomon Anyeghamotu Ndefru Angwafo III, 97, passed in May 2022, after ruling for 63 years.
