At least one government force died in the attack.
It was a difficult weekend for government forces, who recorded several attacks in the Anglophone regions from Mamfe in the South West region to Mbengwi, in the North West region.
Over the weekend, the forces were attacked after an explosive hit one of their armored vehicles along the Mbengwi road in the North West region.
Though damages of the attack launched by separatist fighters are yet to be revealed, sources said the local explosive immobilized one of their vehicles, which caused them to spend several hours on the spot.
Casualties of the attack are yet to be reported by officials of Cameroon forces or separatist fighters, but CNA learned that one soldier lost his life.
This is one of the first attacks on the forces in 2023, which immobilized one armored vehicle amongst the new ones the government recently sent to the crisis regions.
On Sunday, January 15, separatist fighters also attacked a Gendarmerie post in Mamfe, South West region, where one soldier was confirmed dead and several pieces of ammunition taking away.
Since the start of the Anglophone crisis in 2016, both government soldiers, separatist fighters, and civilians have died as a result of the crisis.
