Ndu Mayor urges IDPs to return home as better opportunities await them
The Mayor of the Ndu council in the Donga Mantung division of the North West region, Abdou Kanfon Borno, has urged internally displaced persons (IDPs) from his locality who are finding it difficult to make ends meet elsewhere to return home.
He was speaking during his end-of-year address to the population.
According to him a good number of people are already returning home and bringing good ideas on how to rebuild their community. He says more people should come back home and benefit from the numerous development projects the council plans to execute this year:
“The construction of the Ndu-Nkambe stretch of ring road yet to begin and the rehabilitation of the Ntaba hill shall open other doors of opportunities and equally impact our economy positively”.
However, he regretted the fact that skyrocketing prices of farm inputs especially fertilizer affected the farming season last year resulting in poor yields. He called on households to manage their foodstuffs with utmost precaution and avoid wastage in order to avoid the possibility of food shortage this year.
According to the Mayor, many children went back to school last academic year and most businesses that closed down due to insecurity are reopening their doors which is proof that normalcy is gradually returning to the municipality.
He concluded by calling on the population to work together to cultivate a culture of peace which has a direct incidence on the cost as well as the standard of living of the population.
