The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF party, Ni John Fru Ndi has called on Ambazonian separatist fighters to drop their weapons and return from the bushes. He says it is one of the strategies to end the six years of armed conflict rocking the Northwest and Southwest regions.
He made the statement in his hometown, Bamenda, on December 28, 2022.
According to him, he is disturbed by what has been happening, alleging that the people who are fighting are not only fighting the army but themselves and the population.
“ I am joining my voice with other people and pleading that these boys should leave the bushes and come back home for us to build our country,” Ni John Fru Ndi said in a meeting with the Press.
When asked about the internal problem threatening unity within the SDF he confirms the readiness of the party for the upcoming political activities including the national convention of the party but decries internal issues emanating from the reorganization of grass root organs now threatening its unity.
“Some of you must have noticed that some trumpets of the party got very angry and were blasting the hell out of me because to them they thought that we could just leave the party and go in for a convention,”.
He went ahead to explain the purpose of the reorganization that provoked disapproval and angry reactions amongst party members.
“ We have to get the party reorganized to get more people in, we have to get more young and active people to come in for the growth of the party,”
In reaction to the member of parliament, Honorable Jean Michel‘s opposition to the stance of the National Executive Committee notably the resolution of regional executives, Ni John Fru Ndi condemned the MP’s failure to fulfill assignments given to him by the party.
He further reiterated his decision to hand over the party to a new leader in 2023, a position he has held for the past 32 years of existence of the SDF.
After several years of absence from the political scene, he denies allegations that he fled away from his residence in Bamenda due to separatist threats and says he has been away due to health challenges.
