East: over 12,000 liters of fuel seized
Over 12,000 liters of fuel have been seized in the Tongo Gadima locality along the Bertoua- Garoua road in the East region. This occured on October 7th, 2022 thanks to some operations led by the ministry of water and energy (MINEE).
For the past two months, they have been engaged in a fight against fraud and the illicit sale of petroleum products through the Occasional Emergency Operations (OPU) and Punch operations (PO) schemes.
According to a note from MINEE,
“The culprits were in awe on the morning of October 7th as security forces together with the MINEE team stormed their neighborhood in a bid to track down petroleum smugglers.”
Some shops and homes were searched and this led to the finding of over 12,000 liters of petroleum products.
It should be recalled that the group had earlier visited some streets and corners in Douala in the Littoral region last month confiscating large stocks of petroleum products from some traders.
The liters of fuel seized are said to have been deposited at the Societe Cameroun depots petroliers, SCPD.
The operation is being carried out in a context where the country is still recovering from the fuel crisis that affected the economy in recent months.
