Authorities deny justice to lady who died due to alleged medical negligence after child birth

It’s been two years now that a family in Bali- Douala I sub-division buried their daughter who died after giving birth in a clinic found in the locality on October 13, 2020.

The Ekwe’s family accused the hospital of medical negligence that resulted in the death of their daughter, Ekwe Monney Murrielle Irène.

Filing a complaint at the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade, no action was taken till date.

“After that frustration, we tabled a complaint at the Cameroon Medical Council but no reply yet. I want justice to be done. I want to know what happened to my daughter” the deceased’s mother, Hofliger Sonita residing in Switzerland said in a video.

A lawyer defending the Ekwe’s family sought to know from the Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade how far they have gone with the investigation but was told the file is no where to be found:

“After several months of silence by the Gendarmerie Brigade, I went back to inquire if the investigation is progressing but I was told the warrant officer Abomo in charge of the case was transferred to the North region and that the file could not be found in the Brigade.”

In disappointment, the Ekwe’s family determined to seek justice for the death of their daughter, plead and hope competent authorities with a conscience will come to their aid. They expect that the warrant officer, Abomo who was handed the case file be located in the North for the investigation to proceed.
