Pastor accused of causing wife’s death finally speaks

The news hit the internet on September 20th. A self-proclaimed prophet whose real name CNA got as Thierry Fomekong, was accused of keeping his sick wife at home and by so doing, causing her death. The prophet was said to have isolated her from her family and left her severely malnourished before her death at the Yaounde General Hospital on June 29th.

Following these accusations, Thierry Fomekong has responded saying these allegations are false and are master-minded by his late wife’s relatives. According to the accused, his in-laws had developed a habit of staying in their marital home for long periods of time whereas his own relatives did not have the same privileges. Tired of the situation, he reportedly ordered them out of his house – a decision which did not sit well with them.

He further explains that after her death the deceased’s family took him to the Judicial Police where he presented her medical files which exonerated him. Still not satisfied, Thierry says he was dragged to the administrative centre and then the Ekounou court where the judge ordered that the corpse be sealed for investigations. A funeral programme was later made but Thierry was reported arbitrarily arrested by a police officer who had come with a state prosecutor. He explains that a confrontation between him and his late wife’s family again proved that he was not responsible for her demise. Still very unhappy, the family chose to stay away from their daughter’s burial and chose social media to spread what he terms “blatant lies” about him.

The deceased’s siblings have however declared that this version is untrue and have made it clear that they will continue taking the matter to court until what they consider justice, is served.
