Attack on Saint Mary Mary Catholic Church: The arsonists have crossed the red line – Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province
On behalf of the Bishops of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province, the President of the Bamenda Provincial Episcopal Conference,Mgr Andrew Nkea has condemned the burning of the saint Mary Catholic church in Nchang, Mamfe, in the South West region.
The Bishops have called on the arsonists to release those abducted without preconditions and as soon as possible.
The abductors took with them, five priests, a nun and two lay Christians kidnapped during Friday’s attack. CNA learned that two Priests are from Nigeria.
In a communique, the Archbishop said attacks against the hierarchy of the Church has become the main preoccupation of those behind the “struggle”. It’s clear he is referring to those fighting for independence of the north west and south west regions of Cameroon.
He said the attacks are not only against Catholic but the Presbyterian and Baptist.
The Bishops advised those commanding the abductors from home or abroad to repent of their evil ways.
Like King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who was sent to the grasses to feed like oxen after he burned down the Temple in Jerusalem and looted it then carried the Priest away, the Archbishop Nkea says the arsonist are following in his footsteps and may face the same wrath.
