A presidential decree signed on September 1 2022 has announced the creation of the Garoua General Hospital to serve the population of the northern part of Cameroon.
The Garoua General hospital will have to deliver high quality medical and paramedical care to patients, serve as a teaching facility and also be a ground for cooperation and research.
This decree puts to five the total number of general hospitals in Cameroon. The country equally counts 3 central hospitals, 14 regional hospitals, 164 district hospitals, 155 sub-division medical centres, and 1,920 integrated health centres.
The category 1 health institution with 10 board of directors will operate under the supervision of the head of state. This decree also gives the chief town of the north region two important health facilities. The Garoua regional hospital was inaugurated in May 2022.
This new project is co-financed by Eximbank Korea and the Public Investment Budget of Cameroon
