Public health minister orders sales suspension of more cosmetics
In a correspondence addressed to the owners of the CARIMO, NOURISHKA, MIRA COSMETICS and SISI SECRET brands on August 9 2022, Dr Manaouda Malachie has ordered the suspension of the commercialisation of dietary supplements and slimming beverages. Going by law number 2001/Minsante of November 22 2007, Cameroon’s public health minister reiterates that the commercialisation of Glutathione, beauty capsules, Vitamin C, sex entisers(Extase) and slimming tea must be with authorisation from the ministry of public health.
Dr Malachie has ordered that all sales be suspended in Cameroon as they could greatly endanger lives of consumers and such acts are punishable by the Cameroon penal code.
This reaction from the minister of public health comes on the wake of widespread criticism over the sale of bleaching drinks produced by parliamentarian Nourane Foster and sold in some pharmacies in Douala. A report on French channel France 24 exposed this practice and sparked outrage on social media. Mp Nourane has since announced the closing of all Nourishka shops.
