IED hits Mokolo market again
For the second time in less than two weeks, traders at the Mokolo market, a popular neighborhood in Yaounde, were left in panic-stricken mode after the explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device.
“The noise was loud and everyone was taken aback. At first, I thought it was a tyre puncture but when I saw people running away, I realized something serious was happening,” a shop owner told CNA.
The IED was wrapped in a plastic bag with nails stocked inside.
The causality situation has remained unclear as Police are yet to make a statement.
On July 2, 2022, another IED exploded near Police and fire fighting stations.
One person was seriously injured while the other left the hospital with light wounds.
It is still not certain who is behind such explosions.
An Ambazonia separatist group Interim Government led by Iya Marianta has claimed they are now in a position o attack Francophone regions, the secretary for communication, Chris Anu said. he had claimed responsibility for an attack at the Piah market in the West region.
