WAFCON: Cameroon meets again with Zambia, Lioness captain says match crucial
The captain of the Indomitable Lionesses, Gabriele Aboudi Onguene said in a press conference that they will play all their seven matches as if they were playing the finals
“We promise to play all our 7 games as though they were finals of this competition. We start tomorrow (Sunday)and gradually move forward” She is quoted by CRTV reporters on Saturday.
The Zambians have been crippled by the ruling out of three players including their prolific captain, Barbra Branda, for medical reasons. The back-to-back hat-trick scorer would have been Cameroon’s nightmare in their opener on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022.
In 2020, Zambia deprived Cameroon of taking part in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics as the Copper Queens qualified for the jamboree.
“The mistakes we made in our last confrontation will not be repeated. We have a different mindset, another approach to this game. The team has changed, new players with breathtaking qualities have come to fill our team,” Onguene said in a press conference.
