Amba fighters kill gendarme in Bamenda
Just three days after the National Gendarmerie suffered the deaths of nine GPIGN elements, another attack has taken the life of another element.
According to military sources, the attack occurred at 9:00 Am this June 9th 2022 in the Nkwen neighborhood market. They explain that while three elements of the Gendarmerie were on patrol, members of the seven kata group from Bafut struck. This was at mile 4, not too far from Attiela School where the elements were stationed. CNA’s source also mentions that these gendarmes were just 100 M away from their unit when this happened.
Warrant officer Zoa, an element of the Boumnyebel Brigade, on mission in Bamenda was shot dead and his gun and bullet proof vest were taken by the assailants. Sergeant Essomba of the research unit sustained serious foot injury and is under intensive care at the Mile 3 military hospital. No loss or injury was reported on the side of the assailants. The mortal remains of the deceased have been taken to the Bamenda regional hospital morgue.
